The Royal Palace is an authentic Chinese Restaurant offering the highest quality Cantonese Cuisine food and meals for your fine dining and eating out experience. Recently established in a purpose-designed restaurant at the tastefully re-furbished historic Fox and Hounds Country Inn at Kirk Merrington near Spennymoor in County Durham, we offer an excellent range of the highest quality dining, functions and entertainment services for our customers. We offer A la Carte Restaurant cuisine, a Chinese Buffet, Cantonese Takeaway, Chinese Banquets, Special Business Lunches, Traditional English Sunday Lunches and cater for a wide range of private parties, functions and wedding receptions. Our Chinese food and meals are of the very best.
Our A la Carte Chinese Restaurant is open every day of the week at lunchtime from 12pm to 2.30pm and every evening from 5.30pm to 11pm. We are licensed up to 1am. Our Chinese Buffet Night is every Wednesday from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.

This is a family-run fine dining business that has the benefit of being personally supervised by Billy Lau and his family.... and whose sole aim is to ensure that you have the most enjoyable and very best dining experience. We are pleased to offer the very best Chinese food and meals to our customers.
The Royal Palace A la Carte Cantonese Restaurant is open for meals every evening from 5.30 pm, whilst the Chinese Buffet is available on Wednesdays from 5.30pm. On Sunday, by popular demand, following our short closure for complete renovation, we have re-introduced the highly successful Fox and Hounds traditional English Sunday Lunch Carvery. In addition, to provide a much-needed weekday lunch dining service for businesses and business people, we have established a Special Lunches service that provides a two-course lunch with an extremely rapid turn-around... thus enabling our customers to drive here, have a wonderful dining experience at a most reasonable price, and return to work within their lunch break.
Entertainment and Events can also be enjoyed: every evening we have Karaoke; on Thursdays we have a hosted Karaoke with Stuart and a Karaoke competition; we have three plasma screen televisions; occasionally 'live' singers; sometimes Crazy Horse Racing; soon, a Pub Quiz night; regular Chinese Banquets; and celebrations such as the Chinese New Year.
There is also a separate Sports Bar with television and Pool Table for those wishing to enjoy a social drink.
We are also currently planning the re-development of our Beer Garden and the Children's Play Area, hopefully for Easter 2008, and are planning to host a number of barbeques.
The Fox and Hounds provides a wide range of Ales and Drinks, including Camerons Smooth, John Smiths, a range of Chinese Beers including Tiger and Tsing Tao, and even more exotic drinks for you to sample such as Saki!

In addition for the more adventurous 'chefs' amongst you, there will soon be a selection of our own 'Royal Palace' recipe brand of Chinese food ingredients to purchase - including such as varied sauces, spices and mushrooms.
We currently have redevelopment plans for our Beer Garden and Children's Play Area and look forward to their completion some time at or just after Easter 2008. This will be the venue for our planned BBQs, particularly in summer.
The Sports Bar is separate from the main Lounge Bar and Restaurant and is the domain of both locals and social drinkers, who enjoy a chat with friends and new aquaintances, have a game of pool or watch large plasma screen TV.
